Investigation of crane damage during transfer of produced sand to Miss Darlene. Vessel drift while the load remained connected caused shock loading, side loading and overload. Communication failure may have contributed. Inspector recommendations address captain and rigger certification and vessel-crew involvement in the pre-lift job safety analysis.
