About Safety Library

Safety Library is a searchable index of health, safety and environment documents publicly listed by their publishers: safety alerts, flashes, bulletins, guidance and investigation reports from regulators, investigation bodies and industry organisations. Right now it lists 6,351 documents from 20 publishers.

It is an index, not a file host. No publisher PDF, document, spreadsheet or other download file is hosted here. Records point to the publisher’s own copy or page, so you read the current version on the publisher’s site, under the publisher’s terms. Where a publisher requires a login, the record says so and links to the public landing page, never to a file behind the login. Licensed text extracts are reproduced for selected publishers to support search, as explained below.

The site is free, needs no account, sets no tracking cookies and makes no requests to third-party services. Search runs entirely in your browser.

Search covers the title, reference and summary of every record. Summaries are the publisher’s own where the publisher supplies one and are otherwise written automatically from the title and document text; such records say so. For publishers whose terms permit reproduction (the Open Government Licence, US public domain, or explicit permission to reproduce) the first pages of each document are stored and indexed too, so a search can find words inside the document: BSEE, CCPS, CHIRP, CSB, DROPS, HSE, IOGP, MAIB, NIOSH, OPRED, OSHA. For every other publisher only the metadata is searched, because indexing the text means reproducing it, and that goes beyond linking to a copyrighted document.

It is a personal project. Safety Library is not affiliated with, endorsed by or acting for any publisher, regulator or employer. Mistakes in titles, dates or classification are ours, not the publisher’s; please tell us about them.

Only documents that a publisher lists publicly are indexed. Please do not send copies of documents or anything obtained through a members-only or employer login.
