Summary
BSEE investigated a Thunder Horse pollution event during restart of the long-shut-in S5 well. Float-cell capacity was exceeded during ramp-up, and an estimated four barrels of hydrocarbons entered the Gulf of Mexico through produced-water discharge over four days. Sampling supported the estimate; BP planned a slower initial liquid-rate ramp-up.
