Summary
BSEE investigated a small pipeline-pump fire on Viosca Knoll Platform A. A cracked exhaust expansion joint allowed hot exhaust to melt a plastic dust cover, which dripped onto an exhaust blanket. Thermal cycling may have caused fatigue. Operators extinguished the flame in under a minute; recommendations address inspection and heat-resistant covers.
